Home Sweet Home

Maybe we just needed the friendly confines of Stafford City Park, a change of scenery. I love my home ground, the wind is never blowing too hard and I enjoy playing there. The match is in the books and guess what after 80 overs of hard work and toil its a tie. Even though its a tie but I got the satisfaction of a victory. The boys were in high spirit after the last 2 losses where we went down without putting up a fight. If I were to lose all the games with this kind of effort from my guys I will not a complain a bit. We never lost faith in the middle. I was optimistic and confident that we will get them out. I had many options in my head for the last over. I went with Amir because of his variety. I knew with the tail at the crease they will have a tough time negotiating with his bowling. In the end, Amir came to our rescue and bowled a magnificent last over under pressure packed situation.

With the spring forward time adjustment we will get some time to go in the nets on a weekly basis and work on getting some of the kinks out. Our performance is still not there with both bat and the ball. Our bowling was not up to par in the beginning, either we were too short or too full. The spinners bowled extremely well and especially Danish who has improved tremendously. He is becoming a major wicket taking bowler in this league. Sometimes I feel that this league is all about spinners, they are always successful against any opponent. I am blessed to have 3 quality spinners at my disposal. I think in the next game our fast bowling will come around and cause some serious damage.

Next week we are playing HICC another division A opponent and a very good side. I am always pumped against them and I get a lot of joy in beating them. I will make sure we are ready for this game and keep on working on our weaknesses.

See you next week until then signing off from Southwest
