We are one of the most talented sides in the league

This Sunday I woke up  way before the alarm went off. I was anxious, a little nervous and also excited to lead my team for the first time. I have played with HCSC for many years but this week gave me a different kind of high. I had been waiting for this Sunday for many weeks since i took the job. I had made and then scrapped many plans in my head. I talked to almost everyone in the team and got to know a lot of different things related to cricket. The day i became the captain of the team i had only one goal, Win the division. Winning the division is more important to me than winning the HCL final. I have seen many teams achieve this feat over the course of years and i have seen how the players felt after winning. This year i want my teammates and myself to feel the same.

The job of leading a team like Cougars brings a lot of challenges. I strongly believe that we have the most talented side in the league. We have a perfect balance of players who can individually hurt many opponents with both the bat and the ball. I don't consider myself as one of the textbook style captains. I believe with my innovative thinking i can bring a lot of excitement and changes in the team . Of course i can massively fail in doing this but i will definitely give everything i have to reach great heights for this team.

After our poor batting performance  this week i thought maybe i am not motivating my team enough, maybe i am not cut out for this but in the end i had a moment where i told myself to relax and turn this around. In my many years of playing with Cougars i have never seen such a spirited effort on the field. Each and every player gave everything they had and then some. We had Muddasar, who unfortunately got injured last week, showed up at the game on crutches and did the entire scoring with perfection. We had B team players on the sidelines supporting us . I felt like i am on top of the world.

Next week we are playing against the defending champs MCC and everybody is itching to go against them. I have no doubt in my mind that we will rebound in our batting department and put a great fight against them.

See you next week until then signing off from Southwest
