A Warhorse with a Lion's heart
By Anand Sundaresan

(With so many teams in the Houston Cricket League and the introduction of new teams and players it is difficult to keep track of players who have been part of HCL for the past so many years. Houston Cougars Cricket club with the help of other clubs, will make an effort to highlight accomplishments of these players. This week, it's the turn of CCC allrounder Vivek Ayepalayam)

Cavaliers Cricket Club was established n 1989 by a bunch of enthusiastic professionals of South Asian origin who enjoyed the game of cricket.
Since then, the club has grown by leaps and bounds and has also seen its fair share of triumps and tribulations.
But the most common thread through the fluctuating fortunes of the club has been the untiring efforts of certain individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the club running smoothly.
We would like to showcase one such tireless, selfless individual - Vivek Ayepalayam.
Vivek has been with CCC for the past decade. His skills with the bat and ball are well known amongst the league.
In past years, he has been amongst the Top 5 wicket takers in the league , a dependable middle-order batsman and a permanent fixture in the Indian squad at the Indo-Pak Cup (previously known as the Royal Cup). What is perhaps not known all that well is that he contributes immensely to the club in various other duties without which the club's activities would come to a grinding halt.
He has been the treasurer of the club for many years and the webmaster. Without funfare, he goes about making sure that dues are paid by members and is known to have helped many student cricketers.
He has singlehandedly updated the web site ( www.cavalierscricketclub.com) with the player statistics and match results for many years.
While he is known by many as the warhorse medium-pacer and middle-order batsman who has won many a battle for CCC on the field, he will remain for us the quintessential gentleman who contributes to the game of cricket and the club without expectations of accolades.
For that and only that,  he will truly remain a warhorse with a lion's heart..

Some Statistical highlights:
1. Always been amongst the Top  2 wicket-takers for CCC for the past 10 years
2. Until last season (prior to his being a father), has only missed 1 game for CCC.

3. MVP of the Summer League Championship Finals in 2004
4. Captained CCC for 1 year.
