5 STAR GENERAL
By Tejas Sanghavi

(With so many teams in the Houston Cricket League and the introduction of new teams and players it is difficult to keep track of players who have been part of HCL for the past so many years. Houston Cougars Cricket club with the help of other clubs, will make an effort to highlight accomplishments of these players. This week, it's the turn of HICC bowler Kuldeep Patel)

He has represented HICC for over 10 years.  He has played the highest level of cricket in the United States by representing the U.S.A Cricket Team.  While he was at the helm of HICC he guided them to 3 consecutive Houston Cricket League championships.  He has been instrumental in organizing the Royal/Indo-Pak Cup and various other tournaments.  This man who is never at a loss for words is none other than…..Kuldeep Patel.

Kuldeep started his cricket in Houston in 1989 with Cavaliers Cricket Club and then 2 years later he moved on to HICC. In 1998 he went to US Cricket team trials and got selected in USA 27. The biggest moment of his cricketing career came in year 2000 when toured with the US national team to Canada to participate in Americas Cup. He played in all the games against teams like Argentina, Canada, Caymen Islands, Bermuda etc. His best bowling was against Canada when he took 2 wickets for 16 runs against the Canadian national team.

Kuldeep also captained the Houston side for 3 years in the Central West tournament. He brought the regional trophy home 2 out of 3 years.

Kuldeep Patel, along with other senior members of HICC, has been devoting his time on and off the field for more than 9 years.  His persistency and never say die attitude has been the key to his success in the Houston Cricket League.

He has been a consistent bowler in HCL for the past 6 years always managing to capture a wicket in the opening attack.  His leadership qualities and experience of cricket has helped him through many battles and ultimately getting the glory by winning the war.

We at HICC and HCL thank you for your dedication and support of cricket in Houston.
