JAMAZING!!!!
By Zahid Mehmood
(With so many teams in the Houston Cricket League and the introduction of new teams and players it is difficult to keep track of players who have been part of HCL for the past so many years. Houston Cougars Cricket club with the help of other clubs, will make an effort to highlight accomplishments of these players. This week, it's the turn of our very own Jam Niaz Ali)
One of the most valuable, productive, and, above all, fearless contender of the game joined the Houston Cricket League in 1999. Ever since his emergence into the great HCL, he has proved to be the backbone for not only his club, the Houston Cougars Sports Club, but as well for the prestigious annual league games.
His consequential and guaranteed pick for such esteemed events, held on a national level, articulate loud enough of his invaluable talent. Though none has experienced it so far, but should he be overlooked even once for any of these matches, many angry eyebrows would be raised and the furious columns in HCL forums would send shivers into the spines of the selection committee. He certainly is the Majid Khan of HCSC, as he is equally capable of producing a quick but relaxed ton before lunch time, should he play test cricket. He is not the only but on the top of the list of the HCSC players who can single-handedly win the game for his team. When he gets going, going gets tough for the opponents.
At that moment there is no stopping to his high-rise runs that take the team home. He is equally capable of smashing the ball in all directions, but his most exclusive long-off swing has seen no match in HCL. On the contrary, he is also one of the best fielders of the game and a man with a golden-arm with the ball. Captains have changed, but the reliance in his batting and bowling has never been ignored by any. This sure entertainer of the game has produced many tons and even more half-tons throughout his career in HCL and much more are hidden under his sleeve for years to come. We eagerly wait and so do the Houston residents.

I still remember the game when Jam announced his arrival to the HCL
scene with a bang. The game against MCC when he was promoted in the batting
order because he was in a rush to leave. His innings that day was a delight to
watch. He scored the fastest hundred by any HCSC player against any opponent.
His clean hits over extra cover against Amir Khan (current HCSC skipper) was
something that we had never seen before.
I am sure he is any bowler's nightmare. I am delighted to have him on our side.
